Vancouver's Emergency Communications Centre opened in 1998.
E-COMM - Emergency Communications for Southwest British Columbia officially opened its doors on November 4, 1998 as Canada's largest 911 call taking centre and emergency radio dispatch operation. E-Comm is located within a state-of-the-art building designed to meet strict federal post-disaster building standards, with dual back-up power systems and emergency food and water supplies to operate self-sufficiently for 72 hours.
